What's the real deal on xbox live for the 360 and credit cards???
This wording taken from the official xbox website, "Become an Xbox Live Gold member quickly and easily through the Xbox Live Dashboard on your Xbox 360™ system using a credit card. Get the best value on an Xbox Live subscription at your favorite videogame retailer with Premium Gold Packs or subscription cards.", would imlpy that you need a credit card upon initial activation, but leaves unclear whether or not you need one if you get the subscrition cards.
This question has been posed before in other forms, and answered both ways, yes and no.
i know about the free silver membership and everything. What I want is all access gold membership. If I get the gold subscrition card, will I still need a credit card?
In the past, it was for age verification. Even if I got the xbox live starter kit, I'd still need a credit card to verify I was over 18, even if the credit card was never gonna get charged, ever. I was told this on the phone by xbox customer support.

FORGET everything you know about xbox live and how to sign up for it, because its possibly the easiest thing in the world.
Listen, theres two ways you can sign up from what i know. the first way is by credit card, and the second is the 12 month subscription card you can get an any game/electronics retailer if you don't have a credit card or don't want to use one.
If your using a credit card you can sign up from the dashboard, and fill out all appropriate information, and your done. You should know that if you do sign up by credit card you will automatically be signed up for it every year ($50 fee per year which isn't bad at all) until you call microsoft and tell them you want to cancel.
Second, if you go out and buy a subscription card, they range from few month periods to one year subscriptions, and the one year subscriptions are priced at $50.00 On this card is a special code that you type in on your 360 dashboard, then come up with a gamertag, and thats it.
