How much capital needed for starting bar/club?
I'm 24 and I want to start up my own bar/club. I know this isn't an easy task but my plan is to get a job as a waiter and work my way up as a bartender and maybe even a manager. I want to be able to kick it off by the time I'm 30 so this should give me time to continue saving and learn about the business. I currently have 35k in cash saved.. how much capital is needed to make this thing successful?
It depends on the size of the bar/club. Your biggest capital needs are:
1. Liquor - (I'm sure you've seen the movie GoodFellas. Then, you know that you CANNOT purchase liquor on credit. It is always cash.)
2. Furnishings -
3. Rental obligations -
To open a small bar (say, 40 seats plus 20 standing patrons), I would guess you need a minimum of $250,000 of working capital to get your bar started.
