Hard-Disk Speed (startup and shutdown difference)?
Hi. Well, Actually, I have a dual-core computer 1.6ghz, 1gb RAM and my main HDD is 80gb on ATA133. My windows (xp sp3, and the others, same) start so slow, (like 10-15 bars), logon slowly, whatever if i had reinstalled my windows recently or it's old, and shut down very fast (4-5 seconds max.)
My cousin, have a 2600+ amd athlon, with 768RAM, same to me, a 80gb HDD, on ATA133, don't know exactly the model; Have the same windows like mine, he's startup is on 2-3 bars and logon very fast, and he's shutdown is very very slow, like 1-2 minutes.
The question is: What's the reason on the difference between startup and shutdown issues ? long and short. All i know is that one that have a connection with the hard-disk speed. [sorry my bad English]
It could be that his 768MB RAM has a higher clock than your 1024MB RAM. That could be one reason. It could be that his computer has too many initialized programs which causes it to shut down slower than usual, although it starts up faster.
