is it possible to coat steel with brass?
this is a work project and requires a brass hand rail . I am looking for the cheapest option. could some one help
the cheapest and best looking option would be spray paint which looks like brass. The next cheapest option would be to use spray paint which actually contains metal particles, so it will get a patina like brass with time.
You could also use brazing rod (requires an oxyacetylene torch) and coat steel with brass but I think it would be impossible to get it remotely even, you would spend afterwards a very long time to grind and sand it nice and level again, so I wouldn't really do this.
The last option is form a thin sheet of brass around it or even use foil like used for gilting.
