Is there anyway to scan my paper and convert it to a document?
So, I printed out a short story that I wrote from a different computer. Is there any program or website where I can scan the paper and turn it back into a document so I can edit it? Thanks for your help
There is indeed, my friend.
I'm presuming you already have a scanner connected and the software installed on your computer.
What you'll need is OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software installed to your computer too. The 'better' variants of this type of software costs money ... and you'll still need to edit your saved document file after as extraneous marks will be picked up as letters, plus some letters and numbers may become a little confused. You also tend to lose changes of font styles that are from the original document, and spacing/indentations too.
A FREE OCR software, that I've had reasonable success with is called Softi FreeOCR. You can download it from the following website.
Do give this software a try and see what you think. I honestly believe that you'll be pleasantly surprised at how good it is.
