How much fleece bedding is exactly needed for a guinea pig?
I have a 2x3 C&C cage and I was wondering how much fleece I would need to ask for at a fabric store. I know that I would need a spare throw of fleece in case one is in the wash. I've heard that one yard is enough, but isn't the inside of the Coroplast of a C&C cage more than one yard (not sure)? I'm also going to add a second level so I still need more fleece for that, so how much is it?
Is it better to buy fleece from a fabric store? Or can I buy some simple fleece throws from any variety store? How much would it be from each place (design preferences on the fleece aside?) I live in the U.S. if that's any help?
Usually fleece from a fabric store is expensive. Sometimes buying the fleece throws from walmart is cheaper...expecially end of season. However, at this time of year, you may be able to find some remnents in the back of the fabric store especially now that warm weather is here.
If you do buy the fleece by the yard, then buy enough to fold in half..maybe 2 yards. I usually reverse fold my fleece in the cage. This way I don't have to wash as often. Make sure you line the cage with newspaper before you put the fleece down. I ended up using my kids fleece throws..my pigs now have brats and batman lol.
