What is involved in changing over from a gas built-in oven to an electric double oven?
Seems like I can get the features I want by changing over from gas to electric how much work and cost is involved to change?
Impossible to give a cost estimate.
Gas line has to be capped and turned off. The primary job is to get power to the point of use. 240 vac 6 or 8 ga wire needs to be run from your circuit breaker panel to the point of use. Basement access would be a plus and save money due to easy accessibility. Otherwise, an attic run to the point of use. It is more labor intensive than one might be led to believe. Materials cost probably around $250-$300 depending upon the length of the power run.
Check behind your oven. The builders may have already installed a 240vac outlet for an electric oven. Your circuit breaker panel may also have a breaker labeled for an oven or stove.
