What is the best HEAT/PRESSURE activate or resistant adhesive?
I need to hold or seal a piece of tubing to a valve on an engine. What adhesive is best suited to hold under pressure and heat? Liquid Nails? Adhesive Films? etc etc.... Thank you,
You need to answer these things first:
What type of material is the tubing? (Vinyl, rubber, copper, ?)
What is the connection on the valve? (Barbed, compression, flare, etc)
What are the dimensions of each?
What is the maximum pressure and temp this will be seeing?
What fluid will be in the tube? (Steam, water, fuel, coolant, etc ?)
The most typical connection for this is a male "barbed" connection on the valve. The tubing slides over the barbs and then a hose clamp is tightened over the tubing, securing it to the barbed portion of the valve. There are other options like with some kinds of Aquapex that involve heat activated shrinking......
But there are pressure limitations to to each particular connection and material choice. In most cases, I would steer away from using adhesives....
