Why do I have such a bad sore underneath my tongue?
Alright, a couple days ago I noticed under my tongue on the right side I have two very painful "nubs" - one of which feels like a raw nerve. It was bad at first, but now I can feel it throbbing without even doing anything, and when I swallow, my right ear and throat hurts. I thought this may have been because I ate Hot Tamales (cinnamon candy, artificial cinnamon) but anytime this happened before it didn't hurt as badly / long. What can I do to get rid of this?
It could be just because of the spicy candies, but sores under the tongue can be very serious so make sure that you keep an eye on it. Mouth sores usually don't take too long to heal once you eliminate the cause (so no more Hot Tamales for a while). If it doesn't start to heal very soon or gets bigger, go to the doctor. In the meantime, try salt water rinses (dissolve a tsp of salt in a cup of hot water and just hold it in the area for a couple of minutes, twice a day) and vitamin E (if you get the gelcaps, break one open and apply the "goo" to the sore).
