A Ceiling of Lanterns?
OK. we were wondering about how to make the lighting in the wedding marquee or room nice and soft and not too unpleasant to look at, and we were wondering if you could secure a string of electrical fairy lights like these -

- in lines along the ceiling...
the strings of lanterns would obviously be further apart than this, we were thinking perhaps a foot apart, but how would this work? how would we secure them to the sides of the marquee/walls of the room, and where would we plug them all in and stuff?
and would it even be allowed for health and safety reasons?
EXTRA QUESTION: do you like this idea, or do you think it's tacky? bearing in mind that there would be much less pink, and certainly warmer coloured lanterns!!

haha, it's actually my cousins wedding, i'm only 18!
I once went to function, they had used white netting( it looked like army webbing but white) and hundreds of fairy lights had been intertwined in it and it was suspended from the ceiling... the lights are such low wattage that there is no fire hazard
The effect was gorgeous and it looked like a fairytale, I think that if you improvise you will get a very effective lighting display for your big day
