What kind of sashes for chair covers?

So the feel of our wedding is rustic and vintage, and the venue looks like a big red barn.

The chairs are comfy but hideous, so we are definitely using chair covers, no questions asked.

I found these awesome ivory flowers that look great pinned on a chair sash; now I just need to pick the sash...

Should we go with satin or organza? Or make our own from a roll of tulle? Or something else? Friendly suggestions are welcome...
Flowers are red, but I'm actually more interested in what kind of fabric to use for the sashes; I've already picked the colour. Sorry for not being too clear :-)
Why would the kind of chairs matter at all? I already said they'll be covered....

Does anyone read questions properly anymore?

We had satin for ours, which looks really pretty, but depending on how you want to have them tied in the back, satin is too heavy to hold. We just had ours in a fancy knot and had it hanging down, but a bow tie would not have held since the fabric was heavier and too smooth to hold. Organza is a little lighter and a little see through, and tulle would be the lightest, and is very see through, so it depends on what look you are going for.
