Im from Vancouver,Canada and the other day my Korean boyfriend and I (caucasian) were coming out of a parking lot in our car and this redneck guy came walking by our car with one of those confederation hats on and gave us a evil gaze as he walked by our car. It sent shivers down my spine to know there are still people around like this! And they dare to wear this sign or have it on their vehicles or have the flag hanging from their window facing outside. It is disgusting! What are your views about this sign?
At this point you can hardly assume that he was giving you the evil eye simply because you were dating a Korean Guy. I can think of at least a dozen reasons I've given people disgusted looks and none of them have anything to do with a persons race.
I find it interesting that you automatically jump to that conclusion. Sometimes people have the confederate flag as a way of identifying themselves as part of part of the redneck culture but that doesn't automatically make them racist. I used to work with a guy who had a big confederate flag painted on his truck but had Japanese girlfriend.
You're going to have plenty of people who give you disgusted looks, it might be for your boyfriend, it might be for your outfit. Or it could simply be because you lack social grace when using your cell phone. When you jump to conclusions you only end up making a fool of yourself.
