Math Word Problem [HELP]?
I'm having a difficult time answering these two problems from my algebra book. I know you're suppose to use the Pythagorean Theorem but I still cannot see the solution. I tried using this formula but I'm still left with incorrect answers. If someone could please help me answer these two problems I'll greatly appreciate it.
87.) A softball field should be laid out so that the distance between bases is 60 feet. Suppose the infield of a certain softball field is perfectly square and the distance between first and third base is 84.9 feet. To the nearest foot, is this a regulation softball field?
88.) An auto dealer wants to string a wire from the top of a pole to the ground and hang colorful pennants from it. The distance from the base of the pole to the point where the wire is attached to the ground is 3 times the height of the pole. If the wire is 63 feet long, how tall is the pole?
