What's your game plan for the holidays with the in-laws?
This year it's our turn to host x-mas Eve.. I'm already getting nervous because they are kinda like strangers to begin with-- some of us get together only for holidays. And when we go to their house they have sit-down dinners (kids are older). But I don't think I"m organized enough to do that. There are 20 people so I still like buffet style with nice paper--plates and plastic forks. Is there anything wrong with this?? Sometimes, I could care less about it but then other times I start freaking out. I'm also getting nervous about the menu as well....I want it easy as possible so I might just get a couple trays of something... make the salad, bread and a couple side dishes.. Yes, they usually bring something but it's mainly the desserts or wine which is great!!! But it's always sooo uncomfortable so I'm already dreading this.
Should I start drinking every night until this is over??? Thank-god my side of the family does not create this much stress on me.
LOL! Calm down and concentrate on what's really important about the get-together. It's not about what you eat or how the table is set, it's about a chance to get everyone together to enjoy time with each other. If they can't do that and judge you for your hosting skills, than really that's too bad for them, but don't you let it (or just the worries of it) ruin this for you. Just shrug off your worries and throw your heart into it and I am sure it will be great. And if they can't react positively to that then the problem is theirs and not yours.
