Is it advisable to pop a BURN blister on the main part of my foot?
Right last night long story short I was making a pot of tea and the kettle splatted boiling hot water every where (as for some reason it leaks) some water landed on my foot i admidiately remove my sock and run freezing cold water on my foot dry it the leave an ice cube on it, the skin was badly burnt and was very 'loose' i put savalon on it, i woke this morning with a large burn blister on the main bit of my foot (NOT the soul or sides its smack in the middle). Due to sixth form induction, weather etc today I had no choice but to wear my Doc Martin boots I covered the blister in a large plaster, but now since Ive taken my boots off, gone bare foot and removed the plaster the blister has increased to about an inch wide and about 2 cm high. Is is advisable to pop it with a sterilised sewing needle? (dipped in surgical spirit) and keep putting savalon and a plaster on it or just leave it?
This sounds like it might be a pretty significant burn from your description. I would get it assessed properly ASAP. If only for cosmetic reasons, to prevent any unnecessary scarring on your foot.
In the meantime, leave the blister intact as long as possible. It is sterile and healing can begin inside.
You have done the right things so far by the sound of it. I would get it assessed before you have to put shoes on again. Even with protection it is likely to burst due to pressure and friction from shoes. Get somebody to drive you to the ER or clinic.
Get that kettle changed as well. It's really dangerous!
