Would you paint stainless steel?
I was given one of those stainless steel shelving racks from a restaurant.
First of all, it's greasy/grimy. I'm in the process of taking it apart to clean. I'm not yet sure how I'll do that!
Secondly, I hope to use it in my kitchen and don't like the look of stainless - it will not match anything in there.
Have you ever painted a stainless steel rack? How did it turn out and how did you do it? (I'm really not good with a spray can!) I'm reading you need to scuff it up and use a primer. I don't know if I can do this and have it look half decent.
Any advice?
Another way to add color to stainless is by heating it with an oxy acetylene torch.just pick a spot and heat to dull red by moving the torch in circles.When it cools it leaves a rainbow effect that is nice to look at.This is not recommended for thin (1/6) stainless.
