What are the chances of being called when In Inactive Ready Reserve status (IRR) after Feb. 2011?
I ETS in Feb 2011.My MOS is 92M (Mortuary Affairs). I know the war in IRAQ will be ending soon "Around 2011" but as far as Afghanistan goes, I am sure no time soon. My MOS is a small one (2 units) and the demand is not to high. In my MOS not many of us deploy. It is impossible for you all to give me an indefinite answer I am just curious to what you all think.....
The IRR is career counselor tool to scare soldiers in to signing up, and they are trained to think soldiers are dumb dumbs. I was in the Army from 1985 to 2007, and never saw 1 IRR soldier on active duty.
The last call up was in 2006 and they will give people that you can talk to who are recruiters from the area acting.
The IRR must be activated by a order from the President, and do you think the new President would?
The next tool on the career counselors list is do you have a job? Well there are not allot of high paying jobs now but there are allot of things they don't tell you.
1. You can ACAP 1 year from your ETS.
2. You can file a benefits Delivery on Discharge claim with the VA 6 months out, and you can get rated for any medical term for the most part.
4. You can get SSDI along with VA and its legal.
5. You are entitled to unemployment benefits by law.
6. You can take as many leave days as you have in Transitional leave which with your tax rate and BAH factors is better then selling it.
7. You can get 6 figure balloon loans to start a business from the government with a 2% interest cap.
8. If you get just a 10% or higher VA ratting you can get 48 months fully paid education at any school regardless of the cost in the VA chapter 31 program if you do not have a job when you apply.
9. The VA has employees who's job is to get you a job.
