My four month old has had blood in his stool?!?
He was positive for C-Dificil a month ago and was put on antibiotics and was tested again today and it was still positive for blood. I also went off dairy products for three weeks (he is breast fed) to see if that would help and it didn't make any difference. He doesn't act like anything is wrong. He's happy, sleeping and eating pretty well but his GI specialist is pretty worried about it. The only other things is that his poop is pretty runny so I have a hard time getting enough to give them a sample to recheck for the c-dif. Has anyone else ran into this and if so what have you done? She told me he may have to be put on a special type of formula that is $50 a can!!! I'm a single mom and there is NO POSSIBLE way I can afford that and send him to day care. Agghhh HELP!

if he is positive for this infection....the why oh why would your stupis a ss doctor say switch to formula?????
i say get another opinion....i am confused as to how formula would help....your milk is natural and will help him get over the infection....not formula
please please see another doc and so dome research on this infection in babies and children before you listen to another doctor who knows nothing about breastfeeding or breastfed infants
another thing....if he has been on antibiotics you have to consider that his good intestinal flora have been disrupted....offer him a probioic to help with this and you may very well see the blood disappear....on top your milk will help reestablish his colon flora
