starting a vending business, 1 location so far at a small car lot whats a fair price to give the lot owner?
From my experience you should just try to be competitive. Normally I start at 10% of profit, also known as net and go up from there. When you talk to the business owner remember to not mention that you are paying him off of the profit, just say what percent you are offering him and go from there. Also if you are offering a commission that ask him if he would mind signing an agreement, also known as a contract, but don't say contract, say agreement, sounds friendlier. I have always figured that if I have to pay to stay at a location then it should be in writing. If he doesn't want to sign it, just remind him that it is always nice to put it in writing so you can make sure he gets the right commission every month or quarter, depending on how you do it. Also another good idea is to be professional and not count the money at the location, instead you count it at home give him a check ( which is a tax right off) once a month or quarter.
