what are some ideas for a spinning motor? please read description?
so for my grade 11 physics class we have to build a motor. The motor will cause a rod (straight wire hanger) to spin in place. We need to find a use for this motor.
Some ideas we had were :
CONVEYOR BELT: our idea was to attach a gear to the end of the rod, causing the gear to spin. The gear would be attached to other gears, and on the top we would have some material that would go around like a conveyor belt. We had planned to do this but now we think it will be too difficult to do.
FEATHER DUSTER: this is what we might end up doing. For this we would just glue some feathers to the end of the rod and call it our feather duster. This would be very easy and simple, but I know we wouldn't get very good marks.
Any ideas are truly, truly appreciated. (With the ideas please give an explanation)

I like your idea for the conveyor belt better, as the feather duster idea is too simple.
I would like to see the conveyor belt idea taken one step further however, by making it
do something that is interesting to watch.
DESCRIPTION:
The rod turns a roller that makes a conveyor belt turn. But the conveyor belt is positioned
vertically, perhaps 1 or 2 feet high. On the outside of the belt, you have attached small
scoops, say 4 to 6 of them. Each scoop is able to hold a marble. At the bottom position
the scoop picks up a marble and lifts it to the top of the belt where the scoop then flips
over and drops its marble onto a ramp or track. The marble follows the track back down
to the bottom of the conveyor belt where is goes around again and again. Now you have
something really cool for your motor to do which is fun to watch. If you really get ambitious,
you can make the marble follow a long curving path back to the bottom before it gets picked
up again. It will be even cooler when multiple marbles are going up and rolling back down at
the same time.
It will require a bit more work to make it work right, but a little thought and planning would
give you something really special to watch.

Another idea to make this simpler:
Instead of scoops on the conveyor belt, use magnets. And instead of the marbles, use ball
bearings that the magnets are able to pick up.
Now the belt will pick up a metal ball whenever
a magnet passes by. At the top, you simply need
a little arm positioned just right to push the ball
away from its magnet so that it will release at the
right point and drop onto the track.
