Want to restore my 1977 toyota pickup?
I want to replace the engine and transmition and need to know the website also woundering if there is another more new engine and tranny that will fit in the body and wireing harness
Wiring harnesses are usually unique to a type of engine. It's not that hard to replace connectors to adapt different engines to a 1977 model year. Newer conversions usually require getting the harness and all components that came with the donor engine (ECM, MAP sensor, high pressure fuel pump for EFI, return fuel line, evaporative emission system, etc.) and can be a pain, but still do-able with patience. I put a V-6 in an old Studebaker pickup. By choosing the older, pre EFI engine, it made the conversion easier. With the cost of fuel, you may want to consider sticking with the 4 cylinder 22-R. It's a good, economical engine and the power isn't that bad.
